It’s no longer a buzzword, DataOps is here to stay

DataOps is here to stay

As the member of the Lenses.io marketing team primarily responsible for industry analysts (and messaging) I am fortunate to love what I do.

Over my marketing career I have been privileged to introduce many new products, lead company introductions, build great companies, create categories and help companies move up-and-to-the-right in competitive comparisons.

Interestingly enough, one of the favorite parts of my role is managing the cynicism of my colleagues relative to analysts. There’s nothing quite like seeing the lightbulb go on after a colleague sees the value of analysts and interactions managed with purpose.

Gartner, Forrester, IDC, 451 Research, Quocirca, EMA, Ovum … and so many others. There’s an analyst for every technology niche, vertical and use case you can imagine. Like them or not, they speak to thousands of technology users every year. They know the key trends, and help influence the trajectory of companies, categories and technologies.

Since joining Lenses.io last Fall, I have had the opportunity to introduce the company to several firms, and speak at length about DataOps - a category Lenses.io has pioneered.

In just a few short months I have learned a lot. I was proud to hear from one of the largest analyst firms we offer the most complete DataOps solution. Moreover, in creating Lenses, and evangelizing DataOps, our founders were onto something.

The lack of productivity and adoption of data technologies leading to project failures is real. People are tired of investing months, sometimes years, in projects that never make it to production. When factoring in the business disruption caused by Covid-19, the importance of project success is even higher.

It’s obvious that there has to be a better way. Whether it’s a skills or resources issue, too much complexity, or simply a lack of communication, DataOps offers a mindset and new approach to bring people, data and applications together.

451 Research has just finished a report, “DataOps: Fueling the Success of Modern Data Platform Initiatives” that speaks to this. We encourage you to read it and learn more.
